Cala Mondragó
The depth of both coves reaches six metres on a sandy ground. They are exposed to the winds from the east and southeast. The nearest port facilities are located at Reial Club Marítim Portopetro at 2,1 nautical miles.
Cala Mondragó was declared, in 1992, natural reserve (785 hectares and it can be visited from Monday to Sunday) by the Parlament de les Illes Balears, and in 1995 Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès para las Aves by the European Community.
The characteristics of this beach, fine-grained sand, not very deep water and gentle slope make bathing easier for small children. On the rear there is an area of wetland populated by eels, water snakes and birds.
Sa Font de n'Alis is the sandy area of Cala Mondragó which has a massive influx of visitors, due to the beautiful landscape, the facilities and due to the fact that it is the crossroads to reach the whole protected area. Following a trail toward west you will reach Caló des Burgit, and if you walk toward east you will get to s'Amarador.
The accessibility by car is easy and you can also reach the beach by the touristy train from Cala d'Or. The car can be parked for free next to the beach.
