Markets, with their hustle and bustle, colours and smells, are the expression of the soul of a town. A visit to the market is one of the things that visitors to Mallorca enjoy the most. It is the best opportunity to learn about local traditions and buy handicraft, industrial and farm products made on the island.

Weekly markets are held in the towns of Mallorca throughout the year. Traditional markets sell vegetables, fruit, olives, cheeses, plants, sausages, sweets and a large variety of handicraft products. From Monday to Sunday markets bustle with visitors and locals who visit the market to buy sausages, olives, fruit and vegetables, salted fish and meat, household utensils, handicraft, clothes and shoes.
Sineu market is held on Wednesdays and is one of the most prestigious and traditional markets on the island. Sineu is situated on the plains of Mallorca and has an agriculture-based economy. The town market is a reflection of this. On market day, the restaurants and bodegas of Sineu fill with people who come to taste Mallorcan frit, one of the most typical Mallorcan dishes, and drink the extraordinary local wines.
Inca market is held on Thursdays and is also very popular. It is larger and has a greater variety of products. Inca has a leather industry and there are usually stalls with handbags, shoes and jackets in the market. On Sundays, it is a tradition for visitors and locals to visit the markets of Santa María and Alcudia, among others, and buy fresh farm products for the whole week.
Another option is to visit the Consell flea market, where you can find anything: furniture, army clothes, cameras, second-hand clothes, toys, old books and magazines and other antiquities. There are over 300 stalls to browse and spend an entertaining Sunday morning.
